Week 10: Podcasting and YouTube

Podcasts

I had fun with the Podcasting.
After struggling to find something of interest under the Podcast genre menu. I decided to just go with something I know I enjoy. So, I went to the ABC website and now I have my own personal broadcast of AM each day. Very civilized. I always felt the world should revolve around me and now I feel as though I can organise it to do just that!
Phillip Adams also speaks to me each day, with a podcast of his 'Late night live'. Lovely.
The only dud is one I took at random from the subject genre - Health. It could have been gold but sadly it wasn't.

Youtube.
I loved the film 'Do you want to be a librarian?'. Would I have chosen the same path if I had seen it earlier? .... Who knows.

YouTube is a great source of entertainment. I have yet to use it to find information (excluding the afore mentioned clip). I try to stay away from it if I am being honest as I find it seems to eat up time.
Two of my favourite clips are

and from when I had younger children

Youtube could be used as a marketing and advertising tool for our work purposes. I can see short videos of our children's activities and library events being a tantalizing taster for those interested.
I am not sure what the issues are regarding permission for posting images of people, but assuming they were not insurmountable using Youtube to advertise activities is free and may be reaching an entirely different audience.
