Week 8: Productivity

The two resources that I have chosen to explore are: Zamzar and Eventbrite.

I have used Zamzar in the past (thank you Theary). It has proved very helpful when converting files from early software to the most recent version. Some of my work documents, that I thought were lost, were able to be retrieved at the click of a mouse. Very impressive.

I thought I knew about Eventbrite from our use with School Holiday tickets. It was interesting to explore the other benefits of this site, searching for an event of interest near me.
I was able to find some library events that were of interest. I also found some author talks (not one by my afore mentioned favourite). Sadly I did not find any events for Boroondara listed.
I also browsed a former passion, Morris Dancing.
Once again I was unsuccessful in my search but I was able to content myself with a slideshow found on Youtube and also this academic tome, which I will review for Librarything.

I really like igoogle.
I can see myself using this with my everyday gmail account. It is a great way to have information feeding through without wasting the time to search. I can have the weather and news from areas far afield, where my son is travelling. It makes me feel in touch without taking up precious time.

I explored the tool called Urbanspoon, under the food section of the Web 2.0 Awards. Using Melbourne as a guide it seemed to be a comprehensive and easy to use guide to restaurants. I can see myself consulting it in the future, particularly when visiting interstate or overseas (one can only hope).
